Tobias Grau starts out as a freelance designer in Hamburg with interior design projects for offices, agencies, small companies and fashion firms. These interiors also include his own designs for lamps and furniture, which are realised in collaboration with special workshops. In 1987 Tobias Grau develops his first lamp collection, launched under his own name at the Cologne Furniture Fair in 1987 to a very good reception from specialist furniture and lamp retailers both in Germany and beyond. The process of establishing a luminaire brand to be marketed via upmarket furniture and lamp retailers begins. In 2007 the first LED lamps appear in the collection. The office floor lamp GO XT FLOOR wins the iF Design Award in gold.
